A homeowner in McKinney, TX called in because their main downstairs air conditioning system had stopped cooling. Upon arrival, our technician inspected the unit and quickly identified the problem — a failed capacitor. Capacitors are small but critical components. They give the compressor and fan motors the electrical boost they need to start up and keep running. When one fails, the system simply won't cool. Lovejoy HVAC replaced the faulty capacitor, restoring the system to proper operation. If your AC has stopped cooling or you notice the outdoor unit humming but not starting, a bad capacitor is a common culprit. Catching it early can prevent additional stress on the compressor and a much costlier repair down the road.
